Family & Friends Over Everything

Family is all of the descendants of a common ancestor. It brings us together, and it withholds a feeling of unity. Sometimes it can be hard to come together, and other times it’s hard to get away. Here’s why we think family should come first, before almost anything in life.

Having a family-business, family is VERY important to us. We wouldn’t be able to run our restaurant if we didn’t work together. We value family very highly, and we’re extremely thankful to have such a loving, caring, and supportive one. We feel family is number one on our list because at the end of the day, no one loves as unconditionally as they do. This can also be the same with friends. At the end of the day, who’s there?

You could make all of the money in the world, but if you have no one to share it with, and you’re re seeking happiness from material objects, your happiness will only be temporary. Friends and family will “be around forever” if you put effort into the relationships. A friendship with someone you love is much stronger than a friendship with a car, house, or even a nice watch. The ‘high’ you get from purchasing things only lasts so long, and that’s why one shouldn’t seek happiness only by acquiring those things-that’s the wrong mindset. It can lead to an emotional emptiness feeling inside, and you’ll always be chasing. We could also argue that you need to be genuinely happy at center, and shouldn’t rely on external stimulus to be happy.

You can do so many things with family and friends. Going places, experiencing life, and creating memories are just SOME of the things you can do. You can’t talk to your car, and you can’t have an emotional relationship with your watch.

Try to value family more in your everyday life. It’s easy to take advantage of family, mainly because of the unconditional love, and their availability. However, if you weren’t able, or if you currently can’t see your family, you know what we’re talking about. Think of the saying, ”you don’t know what you’re missing until you don’t have it.” That phrase is so true with family.

Next time you see your family, try to GENUINELY enjoy the moment. Don’t be thinking about what errands you have to do later on, or what happened at work earlier. Just try to enjoy the present moment.

This might sound a little “wu-wu” but it can change your life. Family (and friends) are the root of everything, and your life can drastically improve if you value and appreciate them. We all get caught up in our busy lives and can take family and friendships for granted. Try to slow down and enjoy your family and friends, and create new lifelong, fond memories.
